This picture is of the original
church building as it was in 1952. In 1979 a very young Pastor Roger
Friend & his wife Janet were asked to Pastor a little church
in Vista. Pastor Roger said that he & Janet would pray about
accepting the position. The night before their visit to the church,
Pastor Roger had a dream that took place back in Bible times. It
was of a large wheat field ready for harvesting. And the people
were out in the field doing the work. The next day Pastor Roger
and Janet drove from North Park up to the little church in Vista.
Much to their suprise on the front of the church was a mural of
women of the Bible era gathering wheat in a field. On the corner
of the mural written in Greek was "Therismos" which means
"The fields are whitend and ready for harvest." Needless
to say Pastor Roger and Janet had found their new church home.
By 1985, the church was bursting
at the seams so we rented an additional building across the street.
Then several years later in 1992, Vista Christian Fellowship had
even out grown the building across the street ... this time the
decision was made to move from the original church address on Postal
Way to a new site near Brengle Terrace Park on Williamston Street.
This is where we are presently located. Now 31 years and four children
later Pastor Roger & Janet Friend are still happily leading
Vista Christian Fellowship.
